The English Electric Class 37 is without doubt the most successful BR Type 3 diesel. Accurascale has released its highly anticipated new model for ‘OO’ gauge. MIKE WILD runs the rule over this exciting new arrival.
ENGLISH ELECTRIC'S designers could hardly have imagined how long-lived and versatile the new Type 3 Co-Co diesel would have been when the first order was placed in 1959, but even today the go-anywhere Class 37 can be seen on the main line every day with Colas Rail Freight, Direct Rail Services and Rail Operations Group as well as with charter operators Locomotive Services Limited and West Coast Railways.

The first of 309 locomotives entered traffic in 1960 with the last completed five years later for the Western Region.
