Accurascale and Rails of Sheffield have confirmed that the proposed 'OO’ gauge Class 89 is going to be produced for release in 2023.
The unique BREL Crewe-built Class 89 Co-Co AC electric is being made for ‘OO’ gauge through a collaboration between manufacturer Accurascale and retailer Rails of Sheffield.
Expressions of interest for the ‘OO’ Class 89 model were opened by Rails of Sheffield in May 2020 and it has now been confirmed that the model will be made and available to purchase exclusively through Rails and Accurascale only. Access to the locomotive for measuring during the pandemic delayed progress during 2021.
