Accurascale introduces new PFA nuclear fleet

The 1986 introduced PFA four-wheel container flats took on a new lease of life of nuclear waste traffic in the 2000s. MIKE WILD gets to grips with the latest container options for these superbly detailed flats.

Nuclear waste traffic offers fascinating formations and vehicles and, as well as using some of the largest vehicles on the network in the KUA 16-axle wagons (HM170), this type of freight traffic also offers some of the shortest trains to be seen and modelled.

Accurascale has clearly seen the appeal of nuclear freight traffic. Its first batch of ‘OO’ gauge PFA container flats, released in 2020, sold through quickly with the Low Level Nuclear Waste (LLNW) half-height container versions being the most popular.
