Hot on the heels of its ‘OO’ gauge PCV Cemflo cement wagon (see pages 78-79) comes Accurascale’s altogether more modern 4mm scale bulk cement wagon - the diagram PC017B/PC017C PCA.
First introduced in the 1980s, these distinctive two-axle wagons were built by French wagon builders CFMF and Fauvet-Girel respectively for STS leasing and utilised on Rugby Cement and Blue Circle Cement operations. Following a spell out of traffic, the wagons were reinstated to revenue operation in 1996 for use on Castle Cement traffic flows – a livery they still carry today on services to and from Hanson Cement’s Ketton Works in Rutland, amongst others.
As with its other recent releases, Accurascale’s newly-tooled ‘OO’ gauge model is available in a selection of triple-packs comprising four packs in unbranded STS dark grey, five in Rugby Cement light grey and six in Castle Cement light grey, some with subtle decoration differences, for added variety. For review we received three ‘OO’ PCAs, one in each colour scheme, with STS10646 in unbranded STS grey, STS74044 with Rugby Cement markings and VTG10642 in Castle Cement livery.
