Accurascale shows ‘Deltic’ first shot

The first engineering sample of Accurascale’s first ready-to-run ‘OO’ gauge locomotive - the Class 55 ‘Deltic’ - has been received for inspection. The sample is the first prototype of the model and is subject to revisions.

Accurascale is currently scrutinising the sample before making corrections. Areas identified for amendment include the shoulder grilles, bogies, roof fans, roof fan grilles, handrail placement together with changes to the buffer cowling and shank.

A further sample is due to arrive with Accurascale shortly which will also incorporate the onboard electronics, including a series of super capacitors for improved running characteristics. The impressive specification also calls for a powerful five pole motor, twin flywheels, helical gearing, all-wheel drive and pick-ups.

Priced from £160 for DCC ready examples, delivery is anticipated for March 2020.

Accurascale’s first engineering sample of its forthcoming ‘OO’ gauge Class 55 ‘Deltic’ was also on display on the manufacturer’s stand at the Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes on October 12/13.
