Accurascale's nuclear vision
Accurascale has unveiled further plans for its ‘OO' gauge PFA two-axle container flat wagons, with a series of newly-tooled low-level waste nuclear containers for them to carry.
Five different containers have been developed including the ‘Dragon’ flask, Nupak reusable drum carrier, Novapack Type B container and two 20ft Full Height ISO (FHISO) containers.
These alternative payloads will add further variety to Accurascale’s ‘OO’ gauge four-wheel PFA container flat wagons and will appear across six different triple-wagon packs.
The distinctive ‘Dragon’ flask will appear in a special ‘Accurascale Exclusive’ triple PFA wagon pack, together with a pair of 20ft FHISO 2896 series containers in grey and blue with unique decoration. These will only be available direct from the Accurascale website.
Meanwhile, Accurascale’s newly-tooled Nupak container will appear as green 3739 series and blue 3390 series examples together with a 20ft ISO container in brown-red in a further triple wagon pack, while the Novapak Type B containers will be offered in a pack of two wagons with Novapaks and a third wagon carrying a 20ft 2896 series container.
Finally, there will also be three triple-wagon packs issued with the more conventional 20ft ocean-going ISO containers in brown-red livery with distinctive markings, as used on reprocessed uranium traffic for export to Russia from Sellafield. These containers differ from standard examples with their subtly angled centre panel and two strengthened ribs each side.
All six packs will contain individually numbered two-axle PFA container flats loaded with the respective low-level waste containers.
Artwork creation is complete and decorated samples of each container are expected shortly.
Prices are set at £74.95 per triple pack, with five packs available from Accurascale stockists and direct from the website, while the ‘Dragon’ pack is exclusive to the Accurascale website. Delivery is anticipated before the end of the year.
