HUMBROL’S ACRYLIC range has been revamped and relaunched as of August, with the paint now supplied in 14ml-capacity dropper-style bottles instead of the familiar plastic pots.
There are 81 matt, satin, gloss and metallic water-based colours in total (see the free Humbrol Paint Chart enclosed with this issue), including the relevant varnishes, and while the outer container has changed, the paint formulation remains the same, although test samples indicate it is less viscous and easier to prepare for brush/airbrush application.
Humbrol’s proprietary thinner is recommended when diluting these acrylics, and overall coverage is on a par with other brands. Preparation is key, though, and the recommendation is that the bottle is shaken for approximately 45 seconds before use, which ensures the paint is mixed thoroughly.
At £1.79, the retail price is the same as the equivalent sized pots. Further details are at: www.humbrol.com
