Andy Davies has fun adding aftermarket extras to Airfix’s re-issued 1/48 Boulton Paul Defiant, adding rivets and chipping for good measure.
This is the third iteration of Airfix’s excellent 1/48 Defiant, the first being the Mk.I day fighter, followed by the NF.I night-fighter; this release essentially combines the two. Markings are provided for one of each, with essentially just the decals being the difference. A build and review of the original release featured in the March 2016 issue, so this article will concentrate on the aftermarket sets available plus weathering and rivet detailing techniques that can be used to enhance the model.
