MODELLING FOR A CAUSE

MODELLING FOR A CAUSE

One consequence of the recent COVID-19 lockdowns has been a resurgence in people taking up modelling as a hobby, so what better way to give something back to all those in the British National Health Service than via Airfix’s special edition 1/72 BAE Hawk.

Airfix 1/72 NHS Charities Together Hawk

The firm’s splendid kit has been matched with the winning entry from its NHS Charities Together competition, in which the UK public was asked create a new livery design in support of the NHS during the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, Airfix has included a second set of markings to depict the scheme used in the competition advertising/publicity, making this a great value package. Parts are unchanged from previous Hawk boxings, with five styrene runners, including one frame for the transparencies. Cockpit detail is basic, although the use of decals for the instrument panels and side consoles does enliven this area, and the fine engraved panel lines should please most modellers in terms of refinement.
