Airfix has combined two recent Starter Sets to produce a pleasing ‘Now and Then’ boxing of the Spitfire Mk.Vc and F-35B Lightning II, which also includes glue, paints and brushes, as STU FONE reports.
Airfix’s Starter Sets have proved a boon to the hobby, serving as an ideal stepping stone between the Quickbuild series and ‘standard’ kits, with a simplified breakdown and provision for mounting each on a ‘shadow-style’ stand. The firm’s latest 1/72 Starter Set provides not just the previous simplified Spitfire Mk.Vc, but also Airfix’s new-tool Lockheed-Martin F-35B Lightning II. On opening the box, there’s a neat tray-style inner container, ideal for storing unused parts while others are assembled. The kits are bagged separately, and the components are identical to the individual releases (A55001 and A55010 respectively), but combined they’re marketed at A50190.
