Arsenal Model Group’s forthcoming 1/72 Hawker Hart and Demon biplane kits are reviewed by CHRIS CLIFFORD.
Modellers who favour the so-called Silver Period – Britain’s interwar aviation era – haven’t exactly been inundated with high-quality styrene kits. While various aircraft in different scales have been issued, for some types we’ve had to rely on ancient Airfix products or later (but challenging) limited-run offerings. There are resin kits but these are for experienced modellers used to this format. However, Ukraine’s Arsenal Model Group has produced two superb 1/72 styrene Silver Period aircraft – both Hawker-designed machines – in the shape of the Hart and Demon. They should be available this autumn. Both have been created with help from Aeroclub proprietor John Adams, who produced his own 1/48 limited-run Demon in 2011. Anyone who knows Mr Adams through the hobby will appreciate his fastidious research and extensive knowledge.
Above: Common runners feature with the Hart and Demon kits, such as this example mainly carrying the wings and wheels. The way AMG has depicted stretched fabric is superb.
Above: Bespoke fuselage parts are provided for both Hart and demon, the former being shown here.
