NEW ‘109 KITS FROM AZ MODEL

The Czech company’s series of 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf 109s keeps on rolling, with two fresh boxings and a fascinating array of markings.

NEW ‘109 KITS FROM AZ MODEL

After the Spitfire, surely the most kitted aircraft of all time must be the Bf 109. AZ Model first threw its 1/72 hat in the ring with the type in 2013, and many versions have been released and reboxed since. Its latest offerings, in part, rely on the same generic runners but new decals are supplied.

While parts for G-6, G-6/Trop, G-8 and G-14 are provided by kit AZ 7818 Bf 109G-6 ‘Captured’, the markings are purely for the G-6 – although the aircraft represented feature different tails – the standard version, and the taller wooden unit. All sport the standard heavily framed glazing, and here it’s a one-piece affair, so if you wish to have an open cockpit, a fine razor saw will be vital. The fixed tailwheel applies to all aircraft on the instructions, and AZ’s part is superb, being moulded with a ‘creased’ rubber boot.
