Electric Buffet

Bachmann's new ‘OO’ gauge 4-BEP Electric Multiple Unit is here, completing another important Southern Electric milestone. MARK CHIVERS casts his eye over this long-awaited new release.

BACHMANN’S eagerly anticipated ‘OO’ gauge BR Class 410 (4-BEP) Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) touched down in the Hornby Magazine office in early May, enabling authentic prototypical Kent Coast Continental Boat Train formations to be run for the first time using ready-to-run products. 4-BEP – Buffet Electro Pneumatic Brake - EMUs were built to provide catering facilities on BR’s newlyelectrified Kent Coast routes in the late 1950s. In total, 22 4-BEP and 135 4-CEP four-car EMUs were built at Eastleigh Works for use on Southern Region express and semifast passenger services.
