Bachmann launches new Narrow Gauge range

Bachmann has revealed details of a new narrow gauge range - NG7.

Bachmann has added a new range of narrow gauge products to its portfolio of products with the launch of NG7, a collection of ready-to-run 7mm scale narrow gauge models, buildings and accessories.

The NG7 range of models are produced to 1:43.5 scale, which is the same as 'O' gauge and 'O-16.5' scale - and will run on proprietary 16.5mm track.

Whilst Engineering Prototype (EP) samples have already been received by the company's development team, production of the initial batch of releases is already complete and comprise a collection of Quarry Hunslet 0-4-0ST locomotives, with open and closed cabs planned, together with three new wagons modelling those used at Dinorwic Quarry with a flat bed slate wagon, a traditional slate wagon and a coal wagon. The slate wagons will be supplied with a Scenecraft dressed slate load, while the coal wagon will also feature a Scenecraft coal load.

Bachmann's new 'NG7' locomotives will be supplied with a choice of couplings including a newly-developed chopper-style example, as well as the hook and loop type currently used on its 'OO9' scale models, which will fit the factory-fitted NEM362 pockets, while the wagons will feature a pin and eye coupling in NEM355 pockets.

Complementing the locomotives and wagons, three new 'NG7' narrow gauge buildings will also launch with the range including a slate-built engine shed, coal store and water tower, as found at Dinorwic Quarry. In addition, a pair of hand-painted narrow gauge engine crew has also been developed for use with the new locomotives.

Identities, colour schemes and pricing have yet to be confirmed and will be revealed as part of Bachmann's Summer 2024 British Railway Announcements in early May.
