Bachmann revealed details of its new Kinesis Digital Command Control (DCC) system at the recent Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham.
This new digital system aims to marry the latest technology with Bachmann’s existing RailController computer control software.
Central to the new system is the Kinesis Hub which features 2.4GHz wireless capability and features built-in Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, which interacts with a computer running RailController. It provides real time information via an LCD screen and provides a 2Amp power output to the track. A higher power booster will be available in the future.
The system also boasts a Kinesis Edge Wireless Handset which connects to the Kinesis Hub and includes a high-resolution OLED screen. The handset provides function control button selection as well as the ability to perform CV reading and editing. Simple automation routines can also be input and operated through the handset with more complex routines programmed from a computer.
An App for Android and Apple devices is also available which will operate a version of RailController and is fully synchronised with the rest of the Kinesis system. The complete system will enable users to operate their DCC model railway via App, the Edge handset and a computer. Operation is also synchronised across all platforms, allowing for multiple devices to be used, and a seamless transition from one device to another is claimed.
The Kinesis starter pack retails at £399.95 and includes the Kinesis Hub DCC base station, a Kinesis Edge wireless handset and a fully licensed copy of the RailController software. It is scheduled for release in 2024.
