Bachmann’s all-new Sulzer Type 2

Bachmann's all-new
Sulzer Type 2

The Derby Sulzer Type 2 Bo-Bo diesels are proving to be popular subjects with another brand-new entrant to the market from Bachmann. MIKE WILD runs the rule over the latest model of the original condition Class 24.

WITH A COMBINED production run of more than 470 locomotives, the Class 24 and Class 25 Sulzer engined Type 2 fleets were amongst the most largest fleets of BR built diesel designs. Not surprisingly, they have been a common choice for ready-to-run locomotives with the first model of the Class 25 appearing in the late 1970s from Hornby.

Over the years we’ve seen models of the Class 24 and Class 25 come through from Bachmann while more recently the original Class 24s have been modelled to the highest standard by Sutton Locomotive Works (HM158). The latest generation Class 25/3s are the subject of a recent new release from Heljan (HM167) and will soon be joined by SLW’s second high definition 4mm scale product of the same class.
