WHEN WE BUILD a model railway for Hornby Magazine we normally follow a similar pattern by creating a scenic area then adding a storage yard to one side or behind. For our Great Central Railway layout we took a different route. Having built Quorn Magna station - our take on a GCR London Extension style island station - we decided to make the most of the 16ft x 8ft footprint and turn what would have a storage yard into a fully scenic area.
