Building a ‘OO9’ micro-layout - Part Two

Having completed the base layer and laid the track to his new narrow gauge micro-layout, DAN EVASON adds further fine detail and buildings to the ‘OO9’ pizza-style scene.

Last issue (HM195), I outlined how I created the basics of my small but perfectly formed narrow gauge ‘OO9’ micro layout. This time, I put the finishing touches to the scene to complete the overall appearance which is set to include a station building, engine shed and a delightful cottage, all within the pizza-style circular board.

As I mentioned previously, the amazing selection of new ready-to-run ‘OO9’ locomotives and rolling stock – combined with limited space at home – were the catalyst for creating a layout within such a small footprint.

The buildings are mainly 3D-printed structures from MS Models’ ‘OO9’ range which really look the part once painted and installed. The printed detail to each of the buildings is outstanding and it is worth spending time to bring this out with your painting skills.
