Cold War Heatwave

INTERMEDIATE BUILD

Metal mayhem ensued when Andy Davies built Bobcat’s 1/48 kit of Yakovlev’s exotic Soviet interceptor

Considering this was one of Bobcat’s first production kits, the quality of the parts was excellent throughout, with delicately recessed rivet detail and accurately placed panel lines on the exterior surfaces, while the cockpit featured beautifully moulded consoles.
Parts were included for early- and late-production airframes, with alternative nose radomes, vertical stabilisers, canopies, pitot tubes and optional inner-wing missile pylons/rails for AA-2 Atoll missiles.

Yakovlev’s Yak-28P (NATO reporting name Firebar) was an all-weather interceptor variant of the firm’s Yak-28 Brewer bomber and reconnaissance aircraft.
