Colour for Hornby’s all-new TTAs

Hornby has received decorated samples of its forthcoming all-new ‘OO’ gauge TTA four-wheel tank wagons for evaluation by the company’s development team.

Hornby has a long association with the TTA tanker – its current tooling is now 50 years old – and this latest model has been developed from new, following extensive research of the prototype.

The all-new tooling suite will cater for detail differences between builds through the years with variations to the separately fitted etched metal ladder positions and walkways, grab handles, data panels, axlebox spring detail and more, to enable almost all variations of the 35tonne and 45tonne examples to be produced.

Each model will also feature metal buffers, a wealth of underframe pipework, cylinders, discharge equipment, brake gear and a separately supplied end of train lamp designed so it can be located on one of the lamp irons.

Three ‘OO’ gauge models of the all-new TTA tanks are planned initially as 56046 in Esso branded grey with red solebars (Cat No. R60208), 67004 in Shell branded grey with red solebars (R60207) and 67765 in BP green with yellow solebars (R60209).

Priced at £34.99 each, release is currently slated for later this autumn.
