KR Models has received decorated samples of its forthcoming newly-tooled ‘OO’ gauge model of Clayton’s Diesel Hydraulic Prototype 1 (DHP1).
DHP1 was designed in the early 1960s by Clayton Equipment and Rolls Royce as an example of a potential mixed traffic 1,500HP Bo-Bo diesel hydraulic locomotive for British Railways, although the bid ultimately proved unsuccessful.
KR Models’ version of DHP1 is set to appear in three colour schemes including as-built red and cream, together with fictional BR green and BR blue liveries.
The specification includes a die-cast metal chassis, centrally mounted motor, flywheels, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, directional LED lighting, etched grilles, separately fitted wire handrails and sandpipes, sprung buffers and flush glazing.
Each colour scheme will be offered in DCC ready, DCC fitted and DCC sound-fitted formats, priced at £160, £190 and £260 respectively. Delivery is expected in late 2023.
