Creating a realistic BUILDING SITE

How do you fill those awkward areas on a layout with interesting scenery? DAVID WATSON decided to create a building site on his ‘OO’gauge layout Dean Park.

The scenery on Dean Park has been expanded with the addition of a building site in one corner. The two main structures are from Bachmann Scenecraft while the portable building is a Knightwing kit.
Custom signage was made for the site using a period area code and regular locomotive classes on Dean Park for the rest of the number.
Oxford Diecast’s recently released 1980s JCB is the perfect vehicle to put to work on the building site.
Bachmann Scenecraft part built houses set the scene while detailing items are from Scale Model Scenery and Langley Models.

WHEN BUILDING a model railway there are often awkward areas which make adding scenic details a challenge.
