Initially released in 2016, Rails says the Black Label ‘A4’ (HM114) has undergone several improvements and upgrades to its live steam and sound systems.

World record holder Mallard is joined by Seagull in post war garter blue with silver lettering and no valances.

Eight models are set to be produced covering London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) and British Railways (BR) liveries. LNER liveried locomotives are set to appear as 4468 Mallard in LNER garter blue with valances and double chimney (Cat No: BL-001-007), 4493 in LNER apple green with valances and single chimney (BL-001-008), 4901 Charles Newton in wartime black with NE on the tender, double chimney and no valances (BL-001-009) and 33 Seagull in LNER garter blue with double chimney, silver lettering and no valances (BL-001-010).

Br liveried examples are set to appear including preserved 60008 and 60009.

BR liveried models all appear without valances and are set to appear as 60015 Quicksilver in BR express passenger blue with single chimney (BL-001-011), 60027 Merlin in experimental purple with British Railways lettering and single chimney (BL-001-012), 60009 Union of South Africa in BR lined green with early crests and single chimney (BL-001-013) and 60008 Dwight D. The eight new models use the same tooling as the original 2016 Dapol release and are set to feature a die-cast metal body, five-pole skew-wound motor, pick-ups on all tender and driving wheels, smoke generator, firebox glow, working lamps and more.

Loco specific detail is included, such as the South African coat of arms on cab side and Springbok plaque on one side of the boiler as seen only on 60009.

Detail differences are also incorporated, including three types of tender, single and double chimneys and other locomotive-specific details such as the Springbok plaque on 60009.

Delivery is anticipated for the fourth quarter of 2024, with locomotives priced at £399 each. Locomotives can be pre-ordered exclusively from Rails of Sheffield with a £50 deposit.
