Dapol ‘OO’ Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST

Dapol has delivered its first industrial steam locomotive, with the arrival of the characterful Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST for ‘OO’ gauge. BEN CHURCH inspects this diminutive new release.

Dapol’s all-new ‘OO’ gauge Hawthorn Leslie 0-4-0ST touched down in the Hornby Magazine office in early July and models the diminutive industrial locomotives built by the Tyneside manufacturer between 1899 and 1924. These 0-4-0STs were typically employed at industrial settings such as cement works, collieries, docks and power stations with the last examples withdrawn in the 1970s.

Nine different colour schemes are planned, with open and closed cab variations available. Identities include Asbestos In lined green (Cat No: 4S-024-001), Henry in lined black (4S-024-002), Invincible in lined red (4S-024-003), Leslie in Port of London Authority lined blue (4S-024-004D), NCB lined blue (4S-024-005), Faraday in green (4S-024-006), Spider in Park Colliery black (4S-024-007), 13 in Newcastle Electric Supply green with ‘wasp stripes’ (4S-024-008) and Wallaby in Australian Iron and Steel maroon (4S-024-009). They are available Digital Command Control (DCC) ready, DCC fitted and DCC sound-fitted.
