Dapol has received decorated bodyshell samples of its forthcoming ‘OO’ gauge Great Western Railway (GWR) Toplight Mainline City carriages (HM178) for inspection by the company’s development team.
First announced in February 2022, three body styles are planned for these all-new ‘OO’ gauge coaches in Brake Third, Composite and Third configurations, while initial liveries include GWR ‘Twin City’ chocolate and cream, GWR lined crimson and BR maroon colour schemes.
The specification for each vehicle includes a detailed chassis and interior, frosted Toplight windows, bolection window mouldings, separately fitted metal door and commode handles, wire handrails, sprung metal buffers, die-cast 9ft bogie bolster sideframes, interior illumination and working tail lamp (Brake Third).
Thirty six different models are planned, with 18 vehicles due to appear in the first batch later this year, followed by the remainder of the releases in the second batch expected in 2023.
