The German kit designer has released one of the most interesting military kits for many years, with its Trippel SG 6/38 amphibious off-roader. CHRIS CLIFFORD offers an exclusive review.
Mention the word Schwimmwagen and most military fans will think of Germany’s ‘classic’ Volkswagen Type 166. However, there was another less-numerous amphibian built earlier in the 1930s by the firm Trippel, which initially intended its product to be for civilian use, employed on expeditions and the like. Trippel quickly realised that the SG 6 would only be viable if also offered for military use, so modified versions were offered to the Wehrmacht.
