US publisher Detail & Scale’s study of the mighty Thunderchief offers lashings of juicy detail, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reveals.
A true icon of the Vietnam War – and the Cold War in a wider sense – Republic’s F-105 Thunderchief has long been the target of modellers’ efforts. Whether you’re returning to the type, or tackling it for the first time, Detail & Scale’s fresh examination is crammed with useful content. The publisher’s first look at the F-105 was released in 1982, around the aircraft’s service twilight, and featured just eight pages in colour. With the march of time, changes in publishing technology and more information coming to light, D&S thought it the right time to revisit the subject. This fresh softback of 102 pages has all but a handful of images in glorious colour, but there’s so much more here to get the creative juices flowing… and ensure accuracy.
