Digikeijs digital lighting

With Hornby’s centenary celebrations in full swing, MARK CHIVERS looks to its growing range of BR Mk 1 carriages as he opts to install fully controllable digital lighting, with impressive results.

ADDING LIGHTING to a vehicle can make a huge difference to its appearance, whether road or rail. There are various lighting options available from fit-your-own battery-operated examples to factory-fitted ready-to-run versions.

Of these, Hornby has developed its own ready-to-run lighting system which is highly effective. However, as it takes power direct from the track it is not controllable as the lights are either fully on (digital systems) or dependent on controller settings (analogue). Looking for something a little more sophisticated, I happened across Dutch manufacturer Digikeijs, and its selection of controllable digital LED light bars for ‘N’ and ‘HO’ applications, available in yellow, bright white and warm white options.
