Dobson Bridge by the Gauge 1 Model Railway Association

The Gauge 1 Model Railway Association (G1MRA) will be exhibiting at Model World LIVE on April 27/28 2024 with its Dobson Bridge layout which will feature electric and live steam locomotives in action from association members.

The G1MRA was formed in 1947 by a small group centered in the South East of England. Some 76 years later and the association has grown to around 2,200 members worldwide with active groups throughout Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand.

Gauge 1 is 45mm gauge track working to a scale of 1:32 or historically the slightly larger 10mm:1ft. Often considered the bridgehead between model engineering and railway modeling, Gauge 1 is often best known for its large live steam locomotives, but these days there are plenty of electric and even live diesel models. 3D printing is very popular and there is a very active finescale group.

Our in-house magazine, the Newsletter and Journal, is published quarterly and is one of the many benefits of membership.

Dobson Bridge was built around 20 years ago as the association's showcase layout. Based loosely on southern practices with island platforms it celebrates names from G1MRAs past and has been exhibited throughout the UK. At Model World LIVE we will be showing the very best of Gauge 1 from 3D printed Victorian trains, through coal fired 'Pacifics' all the way to American superpower. Please stop by and say hello. We'd be delighted to meet you and explain more about our models, layout and assoication.
