Drax Biomass hoppers for 'N'

Drax Biomass hoppers for 'N'

Drax

Revolution Trains has teamed up with Rails of Sheffield for its next 'N' gauge wagon, the IIA-D biomass hopper (UIC code: Tafoos) used on traffic to and from Drax power station.

Introduced in 2013, these impressive bogie hopper wagons were designed by WH Davis of Nottinghamshire to transport imported biomass to the UK's largest power station in North Yorkshire and are amongst the biggest wagons operating on the UK network. Each wagon features four hoppers and a pneumatically operated roof to keep the payload dry whilst it is being ferried to the power station from bulk terminals at Liverpool, Immingham, Tyne, Redcar and Hull. On introduction they were outshopped with Drax Power vinyls, while more recently some have appeared with Northern Powerhouse branding.

Drax

Revolution Trains' new 'N' gauge models will feature highly detailed bodies, a wealth of separately applied detailing including control gear, brake equipment, hopper roof door opening rams and more.

Available exclusively through Rails of Sheffield, six twin-packs of wagons are planned with liveries covering original Drax Power, Northern Powerhouse Drax livery and Renewable Pioneers Drax Power livery.

CAD work is complete and the wagons have progressed to the tooling stage, with first Engineering Prototype (EP) samples awaited for evaluation.

Priced at £79.95 per pack. Delivery is anticipated during Summer 2021.
