Modelling is one of those hobbies where new innovations are seized upon eagerly, and flexible 3D-printed decals are a logical step from the ways 3D-printed parts are created.
Czech aftermarket specialist, Eduard, has taken a slightly different approach to other firms with its SPACE series, matching the new decal form (which allows convincing detail to be built onto a waterslide transfer carrier film) with its highly regarded pre-coloured photo-etched metal seatbelts, ejection seat firing handles and various other cockpit ancillaries.
Initial releases are mostly associated with the firm’s own styrene kits, so there are upgrades for its 1/48 P-51D- 10/15, Spitfire Mk.I/II plus 1/72 MiG-21PF/PFM/MF offerings – the latter included two colours of console, so modellers should check references. Also, Zvezda’s recent Mi-24V Hind is one of the first non- Eduard beneficiaries, with a comprehensive set to outfit the helicopter’s cockpit. More details are at: www.eduard.com
