Sweet Sixteen: Eduard's 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XVI full-build

Anders Isaksson enjoys constructing Eduard’s 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI with the additional parts supplied in a recent ProfiPACK edition.

With its cut-down rear fuselage and bubble canopy, combined with clipped wings, I always thought the Mk.XVI looked like the ‘sport’ version of the Merlin-engined Spitfire, and therefore it has always been a personal favourite. This sub-type still features the same elegant lines first seen on the Mk.I, before further evolution led to the bulkier Griffon engine, five-blade propellers and enlarged tail, distorting the classic shapes and elegant proportions of the earlier Spitfires.
