NEW KIT RANGE...SUYATA!

Chinese kit manufacturer Takom has launched a cool new series of plastic kits under the label Suyata, which will be available via Bachmann Europe.

If variety is the spice of life, the new kits from Takom sub-brand Suyata will bring more flavour than you can imagine. This eclectic range, which embraces clever engineering and quality design/moulding, offers 1/48 military subjects, 1/700 space-maritime (think Japanese manga and anime), non-scale caricature biplanes and ships, a 1/32 fantasy supercar and even a mechanical beetle (insect, not VW) with pre-coloured parts.

Arguably some of the most mouth-watering prospects are the 1/48 tanks, and many of these kits will undoubtedly prompt a random buy or ‘scale hop’ for many modellers. First there is the fantastic 1/48 Panther Ausf.A with full interior detail. Frankly, this looks amazing and will add a whole new dimension to those who favour 1/48 armour (or allow it to happily rub alongside 1/35 projects). The kit offers an optional turned metal barrel and muzzle brake, and 3D Zimmerit decals to replicate the now famous patterned anti-mine paste. Judging by the CAD renderings we’ve seen, the whole package appears stunning, and could even convert 1/35 diehards. And besides the Panther on its own, it will also be available with a 16t Strabokran lifting gantry, maintenance equipment and a detailed display base.
Another quarter-scale gem is the Cold War Soviet T-90A main battle tank and GAZ-233014 armoured vehicle dual boxing, for those who prefer more modern military subjects.

Modellers who don’t take the hobby too seriously will love the caricature World War One biplanes – the Fokker Dr.I and Sopwith Camel with 70mm ‘Red Baron’ and ‘Brownie’ figures respectively. These have full interiors, extra-transparent fuselages and pre-coloured parts, and no glue is necessary. And the 88-part Titanic with seals and icebergs makes a fun display scene (stand included), even offering a waterline option. There is also another version with complete hull and slipway display stand, or waterline hull, featuring port and city buildings, and a Steampunk-style airship.

Delving deeper into the fictional world, there are truly inventive products, including the 1/32 post-apocalyptic sports car  ̶  branded Madness of the Streets Championship  ̶  obviously based on a Lamborghini, and coming with a ‘Selena’ female racing driver figure. With 125 parts, and covered in spikes and harpoon launchers, it’s like Mad Max on steroids!
And as for the sci-fi space-ships, there are the Nagato and Mutsu ‘surface craft’, and I-400 and I-401 space submarines… the I-400 being equipped with a floatplane just like it’s real-world wartime equivalent. All the ‘stellar’ vessels, based on Imperial Japanese Navy craft, feature an optional Mecha suit build format, too.

The last pending product comes from Suyata’s Mechanical Dynasties/Marvellous Museum series and is a beetle with moveable joints and interior… a great no-glue-required educational project for younger modellers, or for those who simply like something different.
