Accurascale has announced a new triple pack of exclusive ‘OO’ gauge North Eastern Railway (NER) 20ton hoppers in Londonderry Colleries livery.
By the early 1930s the ever increasing volumes of material being excavated from Dawdon Colliery at Seaham prompted Londonderry Collieries to order a new fleet of wooden bodied 20ton hoppers. Charles Roberts & Sons won the contract and produced a fleet of wagons from 1935 that were almost identical to the North Eastern Railway P7 20ton hopper. By the early 1960s all had been replaced by newer steel bodied wagons.
With the announcement of the Londonderry Collieries liveried wagons, this rounds out Accurascale’s first run of the NER 20ton hoppers. These new wagons utilise the same tooling as the main range and are set to feature a die-cast chassis, turned metal wheels, sprung buffers, brass bearings, numerous separately-fitted parts and more. Additionally several detail differences have been catered for to represent regional and period differences the prototypes carried in service.
Decorated samples have been received for inspection, with production now underway. Each 'OO' gauge triple pack is priced at £84.95 with an expected delivery date during late 2024.
