West Coast relay room expands exclusive laser-cut collection

PJM Models’ laser-cut ‘OO’ scale kit for a West Coast Main Line relay room is the latest product to join the Key Publishing Exclusives collection.

The range of laser-cut ‘OO’ gauge building kits supplied exclusively by Key Publishing from PJM Models has expanded with the addition of a West Coast Main Line relay room to complement Norton Bridge signalbox (HM192).

The kit contains a full set of laser-cut parts, including glazing, and only requires glue and paint to complete it.

The new relay room kit was originally designed for Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks 2 layout by PJM Models and is now available to purchase from the Key Model World Shop. The building measures 250mm x 70mm x 50mm.

These buildings were a unique design created for the electrification of the West Coast Main Line and were found at locations between London, Manchester and Liverpool with a total of 12 feeder stations provided for the original scheme. They were located where the 25kV AC overhead supply connected to the national grid, but in recent times many of these original structures have been replaced with modern portable buildings.

New to the Key Model World Shop is PJM Models’ ‘OO’ scale laser-cut kit for a West Coast Main Line relay room, as seen on Pete Waterman’s Making Tracks 2 layout.

The ‘OO’ scale (4mm:1ft) kit contains a full set of laser cut components crafted from plywood, MDF, card and clear sheet, as even the glazing is laser-cut to fit the design. All components align via slots and tabs making construction a simple process.

Suitable glues for assembly including Deluxe Materials Roket Rapid and Glue ‘n’ Glaze and full instructions are provided with each kit explaining the assembly process.

The roof section can be left removable, together with the floor, for future access.
