DIGITAL SOUND

FACTORY SOUND

If installing a sound decoder is not for you, there is another option – factory fitted digital sound, as MARK CHIVERS explains.

Above: Factory fitted digital sound has come a long way in recent years with one of the best being Sutton’s Locomotive Workshop’s Sulzer Class 24 for 4mm scale. This model features an incredibly realistic sound file with multiple drive options, custom speaker enclosures and more. Watch our demonstration below and read our recent review in HM158.

SHOULD THE PROSPECT OF installing a digital sound decoder in your prized model seem daunting, there is another option – let the manufacturer do the hard work for you. A model with factory-fitted sound reduces potential damage to the model and all you have to do with your newly acquired steed is place it on the track, turn the power on and fire up the sounds by pressing the ‘F1’ function button on your DCC system.
