THE PERFECT PHANTOM?

THE PERFECT PHANTOM?

Japanese manufacturer FineMolds has a reputation for accuracy and detail, with its kits being highly sought after – this will definitely be the case with its newly tooled 1/72 F-4EJ Phantom.

Fine Molds 1/72 F-4EJThe 12 styrene runners are packed with beautifully moulded components and the detail is exquisite, with delicate engraved panel lines and rivets on the exterior, full-length intakes and jet pipes, and a well-furnished cockpit all vying as the standout elements. It’s easily the best 1/72 F-4E/EJ on the market and the parts breakdown, which uses panel lines as the joins to minimise the need for sanding/filling, opens up the possibility of other variants in the future.

The first release is the standard F-4EJ (FP37) operated by the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force, with options including moulded styrene or decal instrument panels and an open/closed canopy. There’s a choice of three schemes, with two 302nd Squadron and a single 301st Squadron airframes, all clad in standard FS 16440 Light Gull Gray and FS 17875 Insignia White.
