Lionheart Trains has received the first shots from the tooling of its all-new ‘O’ gauge BR Standard ‘3MT’ 2-6-2T for review.
Designed and built at the former Great Western Railway Works at Swindon, 45 locomotives were introduced to service on British Railways’ Western, Southern, London Midland and North Eastern Regions. Despite a 40-year intended life span, the longest operational example lasted just shy of 15 years, while the shortest span in service was less than nine years. None have been preserved, although a new-build locomotive is in development.
Lionheart Models’ all-new ‘O’ gauge model will feature a die-cast metal body and chassis, five-pole skew-wound motor, working cab doors, removable cab roof, working Walschaerts valve gear, flickering firebox glow and sprung metal buffers.
Eight fully-finished models are due for production including 82010 in BR lined black with late crests (Cat No. LHT-S-8201), 82029 in BR lined black with early crests (LHT-S-8202), 82027 in BR lined black with late crests (LHT-S-8203), 82019 in BR lined black with early crests (LHT-S-8204), 82007 in BR green with early crests (LHT-S-8205), 82003 in BR lined green with late crests (LHT-S-8206), 82020 in BR green with late crests (LHT-S-8207) and 82030 in BR lined green with late crests (LHT-S-8208). Three unnumbered examples will also be produced in BR lined black with late crests (LHT-S-8201U), BR lined black with early crests (LHT-S-8202U) nd BR lined green with late crests (LHT-S-8208U).
Prices are set at £575 Digital Command Control (DCC) ready, £605 DCC fitted and £685 DCC sound-fitted. Release is expected during the second quarter of 2023.
