FISHY AIRCRAFT UPGRADES

Aftermarket specialist Barracuda Studios has three new items useful for modellers who favour World War Two fighters.

FISHY AIRCRAFT UPGRADES

If you want crisp casting and accuracy in your resin improvements  ̶  and let’s face it, who doesn’t – Barracuda is always a good bet. It has released a large selection of items recently, and here we focus on three of those products.

First comes a large-scale treat in the shape of the firm’s Spitfire Mk.IX Wing Correction Set (BR32340, shown above), designed to improve Revell’s 1/32 kit. This is a relatively simple proposition, which will make a noticeable different to your model. The set offers two highly detailed and accurate radiators with facings and fairings, along with complete intake and exhaust ramps. All parts are in cream resin and, once they are removed from their casting blocks, will require minimal neatening before they’re ready to install. You will have to perform minor surgery on the kit itself, and the set costs US$14.95.

Luftwaffe modellers aren’t ignored, as there are dedicated items, these being the 1/48 Fw 190A, F and D Standard Sliding Hood and Blown Sliding Hood (BR48458/459 – US$4.25 each, designed for the Eduard and other kits), and the 1/32 Bf 109G-6 Corrected Upper Gun Cowling (BR32157, US$11.95), which fits Revell’s model. The canopies are vac-form format and just need the surrounds cutting away, and they provide a clearer, distortion-free alternative. The more accurate cowling must be separated from its casting block, but is a direct replacement for the kit part and is purely for Erla-built G-5/G-6 airframes. If you wish to afford the same treatment to other G-6s, you’ll need set BR32157.
