Having released a 1/48 styrene Me 163B Komet in 2021, GasPatch Models has now issued a 1/72 version that’s almost entirely 3D printed. CHRIS CLIFFORD marvels at the contents.
Inevitably, our hobby seems to be wholeheartedly embracing 3D-printing technology and the benefits it can provide. One manufacturer that’s taken it to a whole new level is Greece’s GasPatch Models, which has released a simply jaw-dropping 1/72 Messerschmitt Me 163B Komet. The only non-resin parts are the transparencies, but the rest are entirely 3D printed and offer incredible detail.

The first thing to mention is the superb packaging, which comprises a layer of sponge with appropriately shaped cut-outs, to accommodate all the resin items. Of course, every part needs to be separated from its printing pillars – and this will take time – especially as some components are minute and delicate. Even if you’re an experienced modeller who’s quickly gained ground with this medium, you may find the kit challenging due to the aforementioned traits. Several cockpit …
