Each year’s major releases seem to share a common theme and, with Zoukei-Mura’s new F-4E, Mike Williams reckons it is the Phantom’s time to shine.
McDonnell Douglas’ twin-engined F-4 Phantom II needs little introduction, with around 5,000 examples built and the type serving with more than a dozen air forces around the world.

Japanese manufacturer Zoukei-Mura (ZM) continues its F-4 Phantom II family in 1/48 scale with the first of the ‘long-nosed’ variants: the early production F-4E. Anyone who has built the firm’s previous Phantoms will know exactly what to expect from the moment the box is opened. Everything exudes quality: from the beautifully moulded detail, finely engraved panel lines and rivets to the cleverly considered construction sequence and comprehensive instructions.
