We are the OO Live Steam Club. We see our role as supporting Hornby’s Live Steam ‘OO’ gauge products from the early 2000s and showing owners and potential owners how to get the best out of their Hornby live steam locomotives. We have a layout and driver training experience, it has three loops making for a busy and interesting presentation. The ‘driver’ does not need their own locomotive, they can use one of ours and we also have a technical area to help owners with malfunctioning engines. We have introduced a Speed Challenge in which younger members of the public are encouraged to enter. Using one of our locomotives they can attempt to break Mallard’s world record of 126mph from 1938. This is all done to scale speed. This has proved very popular with the public and exhibition organisers.
