Green light for Heljan's 'O’ gauge Class 27 liveries
Heljan has approved the livery diagrams for its forthcoming 'O’ gauge BR Class 27 diesels.
Eight models are planned, including four numbered examples finished as 5370 in weathered BR green with full yellow ends (Cat No. 2771), D5382 in BR two-tone green with small yellow panels (2775), D5389 in BR blue with small yellow panels (2776) and 27032 in weathered BR blue with Inverness Stag logos (2777). Four unnumbered models will also be offered in BR green with small yellow panels (2770), BR green with cream waistband and full yellow ends (2772), BR blue (1970s) with full yellow ends (2773) and BR blue (1980s) with full yellow ends (2774).
Heljan's impressive specification for the new ‘O’ gauge Class 27 includes a heavy diecast chassis, twin five-pole motors, flywheels, all-wheel drive, rotating roof fans, independent cab, tail and engine room lights, illuminated headcode panels, etched grilles, wire handrails, space for a smoke unit and Digital Command Control (DCC) plug-and-play capability for the ESU Loksound XL decoder. Detail differences will also be incorporated with vacuum or dual braked options together with alternative bogie side footsteps, windscreen wiper variations, steam heat boilers (or not) and water tanks, where appropriate.
Development of the new 'O' gauge Class 27 is progressing well with modifications to the tooling currently underway to improve the model's appearance following evaluation of the first Engineering Prototype sample. Revisions include improvements to the headcode boxes, bufferbeam, cab fronts and snowploughs.
Priced at £599 each, delivery is currently on schedule for a mid-2022 release.
