Hatton's Gresley coaches debut

2021 looks set to be the year of the carriage for ‘O’ gauge with new collections due to cover LNER and BR designs from three different manufacturers. Hattons Model Railways has set the ball rolling with its trio of Gresley 61ft 6in corridor coaches. MIKE WILD takes a closer look.

GRESLEY’S TEAK BODIED 61ft 6in corridor carriages are a signature of the London North Eastern Railway and British Railways Eastern Region. The first designs entered traffic in the 1920s and there were many variations through the years.

Hattons announced its plans for a series of ‘O’ gauge ready-to-run Gresley coaches in August 2016 working with Heljan to cover the Diagram 186 Tourist Third Open, Diagram 115 Third Corridor and Diagram 175 Brake Composite Corridor from the 1930s.
