HORNBY ‘2MT’ 2-6-0 FIRST SAMPLE SURFACES

ORNBY took delivery of the first engineering sample of its forthcoming ‘OO’ gauge BR Standard ‘2MT’ 2-6-0 in late February for evaluation.
65 of these Riddles-designed locomotives were built at Darlington in the 1950s, with examples shared across BR’s Western, Midland, Eastern and Scottish Regions.
First announced in January, Hornby’s new model will appear as 78010 in BR lined black with early crests (Cat No. R3838), 78047 in BR lined black with late crests (R3836) and 78000 in BR green with late crests (R3839). The impressive specification includes a diecast locomotive boiler and chassis, five-pole skew wound motor, eight-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket, space for a 28mm diameter speaker, metal buffers, separately applied handrails and more.
Priced at £179.99 each, delivery is anticipated in late 2020/early 2021.
