Hornby’s all-new HM6000 app-based analogue control system is due to arrive with retailers shortly.

Utilising the latest Bluetooth technology, the system enables DC-powered layouts to be controlled from a smart phone or tablet for the first time using the downloadable HM DC app.

Developed in-house at Hornby, two circuits - each with one locomotive - can be operated simultaneously with the app per HM6000 control base unit, with up to eight separate circuits possible (utilising up to four HM6000 units), while the HM6010 accessory base unit will enable operation of up to four accessories such as turnouts or colour light signals – up to three of these accessory base units can be connected to one transformer. Simple slide control offers direct control with individual acceleration and braking characteristics for each circuit.

The HM DC app is suitable for use with major IOS or Android smart phones and most tablets and also includes a selection of authentic sounds for steam, diesel and electric locomotives together with Hornby's new Track Builder layout design software, enabling a virtual layout to be created using Hornby components which can be exported as a useful shopping list.

Prices are set at £29.99 for the HM6000 control base unit and £34.99 for the HM6010 accessory base unit. A compatible wall-mounted power supply (P9100) is priced at £20.99.
