Latest CADs show Class 91 progress

Development of the all-new ‘OO’ gauge Class 91 from Hornby is continuing with current work focused on finalising the design and build process for the AC electric’s pantograph. The current design for the pantograph accounts for operation as well as detail and consists of a combination of die-cast and plastic mouldings for the components. It will also be sprung at the base in order to assist in it retaining its position. Research for the Class 91 has been assisted by visits to the Hitachi Rail Europe depot at Bounds Green, London, to measure several examples of the class before withdrawal.
