Hornby receives
'Hush Hush' painted samples
HORNBY has taken delivery of preproduction decorated samples of its LNER ‘W1’ 4-6-4 for ‘OO’ gauge, profiling the locomotive in its different liveries.
These latest samples represent the ‘Hush Hush’ in original condition finished as 10000 in LNER lead grey as it was in service (Cat No. R3840), 10000 in LNER lead grey with British Enterprise nameplates which weren’t fitted to the engine (R3841) and 10000 in LNER lined apple green -a livery it was expected to carry but never did (R3842). Pre-production samples of the rebuilt version are still awaited but will appear as 10000 in LNER garter blue (R3843) and as 60700 in BR lined green with early crests (R3844).
The impressive specification includes a five-pole motor, all-wheel pick-ups on the locomotive and tender, 8-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket and space for a 28mm round speaker.
Prices are set at £199.99 per locomotive, with delivery anticipated during Winter 2020/2021.
