Hornby Collectors Club Coronation exclusive

Hornby will produce a commemorative ‘OO’ gauge edition of Stanier ‘Princess Coronation’ 4-6-2 46220 Coronation ahead of the coronation of King Charles III next May.

Hornby Princess Coronation 46220

Exclusive to Hornby Collectors Club members, the special edition 'OO' gauge model was launched at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition and will be finished in its later form with smoke deflectors, finished in BR express passenger lined blue with early crests and red-backed Coronation nameplates.

As 6220, Coronation was the first of the class to be built at Crewe Works in 1937. Later the following year, it temporarily switched identities with 6229 Duchess of Hamilton (which was shipped to the USA for a tour masquerading as Coronation), eventually regaining its original name in mid-1943. Its distinctive streamlined casing was removed during 1946 and later carried the BR express passenger blue livery between 1950 and mid-1952.

Limited to just 500 pieces, the model is based on Hornby’s latest specification Stanier ‘Pacifics’ with five-pole skew-wound motor, 21-pin Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket and sprung metal buffers.

Exclusive to Hornby Collectors Club (HCC) members and priced at £149.99 each, 46220 Coronation is expected to be released in April 2023. Membership to HCC is available from £30.
