The Stroudley ‘Terrier’ 0-6-0T has been a consistent part of the Hornby range since 1998 when it bought the former Dapol ‘OO’ gauge model. 21 years later it has developed a brand new version all of its own, as MIKE WILD explains.
REMARKABLY the Stroudley ‘Terrier’ 0-6-0Ts were originally built to haul commuter trains on the London Brighton & South Coast Railway (LBSCR) routes radiating from London Victoria and London Bridge. They could accelerate quickly between stations on stopping services, but they quickly became underpowered for the increasingly heavy trains which were starting to run over longer distances to bring commuters into the capital.
